RIFF - Reykjavik International Film Festival takes place from September 26th to October 6th 2024 in the city of Reykjavik, a cultural hub in the land of thermal pools, waterfalls, and striking glaciers.

RIFF is looking for interns to join us at the office in Reykjavik. There is a myriad of interesting tasks that we need support with, and as an intern, you will become an essential part of the team, being involved in many aspects of the festival.

The tasks include organization, social media, filming, photo/videography, production, communication with filmmakers, companies, venue organisation, working on partnership and many more. The internship positions begins in early/mid September and lasts until end of November (or even later). 

These internships are great for new-comers in the film industry as well as the events world. Our goal is to provide a colorful taste of what it takes to organize and produce a film festival while working in a fun and interesting environment. All interns also get a festival pass which gives access to all screenings at the festival.

Embedded Systems Engineer (Tech Startup)

Overview:

We are looking for an embedded systems engineer to help develop our MetalMaker System for producing custom metal parts. The engineer will be involved in circuit design, microcontroller programming, hardware/software development, prototyping, testing, and iterating. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is passionate about our product, our mission, and changing the world! 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Programming a touch screen user interface for the Raspberry Pi using GTK framework.
  • Wiring and programming various electronic components (sensors, actuators, etc.) and integrating them with the firmware on the STM32 microcontroller.
  • Optimizing the machine automation and controls of the embedded system.
  • Designing an integrated circuit PCB combining the STM32 chip with the inputs and outputs for the machine sensors and actuators.
  • Sourcing off-the-shelf components and custom parts from manufacturers.
  • Prototyping, testing, debugging, and iterating the system.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of electronics (circuits, sensors, actuators, touch screens, etc.).
  • Experience programming microcontrollers (Raspberry Pi, STM32, etc.).
  • Experience with programming languages (i.e. Python, C, etc.).
  • Experience designing circuits and electronic systems.
  • Able to work and solve problems independently.
  • Detail-oriented, responsible, ambitious, and motivated.
  • Capable of working and communicating in English.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience designing, prototyping, operating, and/or programming automated systems (3D printers, CNC machines, RC drones, robots, etc.).
  • Experience programming sensors and actuators in C with STM32 and ROS. 
  • Experience using PCB design software (preferably Fusion 360 - Eagle).
  • Experience manufacturing custom circuit boards.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Full-stack web app development using React for cross-platform compatibility (Android, iOS, web, etc.).
  • Authenticating and communicating with a Raspberry Pi and remote database to send and receive data in real-time.
  • Developing custom plugins/scripts with Python for generating 3D graphics and processing lines of machine commands.

Project management internship at EFEE 

 

The European Federation of Education Employers is looking for a full-time intern to assist with the management of European projects. This involves a variety of tasks ranging from organisation of meetings and events across Europe to continuous communication to project partners and dissemination of activities.  

 

Tasks and responsibilities  

  • Organise meetings with project partners: prepare agenda, contact participants, draft minutes/reports, etc. 

  • Assist with the logistics of the organisation of project events (webinars and in-person conferences): draft agenda, invite speakers, invite participants, arrange venue, travel and accommodation, etc. 

  • Assist with the reporting of projects: keep track of deliverables, produce brief reports, report on project expenses. 

  • Communication: 

  • Continuous communication with project partners through MS Teams, emails and online meetings. 

  • Continuous dissemination of project outputs. 

This is not an exhaustive list, and it may vary depending on circumstances. Additional tasks are negotiated during the internship, depending on the motivation and abilities of the intern. 

The Project Management intern will remain under the supervision of an EFEE Project Manager. 

 

Technical details 

  • The internship will take place in Brussels, Belgium, for a period of 6 months to 1 year starting no later than September 1st 2024. 

  • We have a 38-hour week (7,5 hours per day, 5 days per week). 

  • Work is hybrid alternating between home-office and at least three office days per week, in addition to the meetings and events that might take place each week. 

  • The project events often take place in different countries. The Project Management intern is expected to be available to travel to these events. 

  • The organisation covers travel expenses in the function of work activities and other expenses incurred as part of work activities. 

  • The intern needs to be eligible for a funding grant such as Erasmus +, mobility grant from a Chamber of Commerce, Eurodyssey, aid from the Belgian Government such as Actiris International Erasmus Pro, etc. 

 

Qualifications required 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (international relations, political science, business administration...). 

  • Analytical skills to understand European projects and EU policy frameworks.

  • PR Manager: As a PR Manager intern, you will be responsible for building relationships with the media, while constantly looking for ways to boost and improve the organization’s image.

  • Sales Development Representative (SDR): As a Sales Development Representative intern, you will gain hands-on experience in prospecting, lead generation, and building crucial connections to support the growth of our sales pipeline.
