Curatorial support/ gallery and production assistant
Contemporary art space TUR_telpa is looking for a student or recent graduate eager to gain experience in the contemporary art field by supporting the activities of the team. TUR_telpa is an artist-run contemporary art space that aims to complement Riga's art scene by working closely with their selected artists to create high quality, curated exhibitions. Collaborating with the distinctive characteristic of the space - which refers to both the traditional white cube and the building's industrial past - artists are invited to create new work and encouraged to experiment beyond what might be their conventional practice.
Interns at TUR_telpa would be presented with tasks related to exhibition mediation; assisting with exhibition installation and deinstallation; assisting with exhibition openings and public programme events; working with the curator and/or production team for upcoming shows; and, the day to day running of a publicly funded, contemporary art space..
We are seeking interns with a positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work independently as well as within a team. We like people who can take initiative and are excited to take part in an art space that, although young, is well recognized in Riga.
Strong interest in contemporary art, culture and curating, good oral and written communication in English, versatility, punctuality will be highly appreciated.
Internships at TUR_telpa are unpaid, so interns are expected to be funded through the Erasmus grant or other programs.
The exhibition's opening hours are from Wednesday through Saturday from 17-21 in the Winter and 16-20 in the Summer. Office hours are somewhat erratic and flexible depending on upcoming shows.
