Escombro is a recent independent film production company which divides its activity between Lisbon, London and New York.

Our main project at the moment is a feature-length documentary shot between New York and Lisbon, portraying the life of two well-known personalities, and partly funded by Portugal’s state fund.

We are offering an internship position to a talented individual to join our team as a graphic designer, who will be the main responsible for the creation of the company’s website and for the overall design of logos, videos, posters, presentations and documents related to our projects.

 

Job duties:

  • Creating the company’s website and its design;
  • Designing the company’s logos, fonts and other professional materials;
  • Designing posters and other promotional materials;
  • Designing production folders for our projects and presentations, to attract partners, funders and/or sponsors;
  • Helping with technical and software tasks;
  • The quantity and type of activities performed by the intern will depend on their interests, knowledge, performance, experience and attitude.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Graphic Design;
  • Comfortable with Illustrator, Photoshop, After effects and Premiere Pro;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and initiative;
  • Good English language knowledge (Portuguese and Spanish language domain are a plus);
  • Excellent organization, time management, and prioritization skills;
  • Good domain of common computer/mobile software and OS;
  • Strong interest in arts and film;
  • Self-motivated with a sense of Initiative and Creative Thinking;

Production Assistant on International Documentary Film

Escombro is a recent independent film production company which divides its activity between Lisbon, London and New York.

We are currently starting production on our first feature-length documentary film, which is being shot mostly in New York, with some scenes in Lisbon. The documentary is partly being funded by Portugal’s state fund and it portrays the life of two well-known personalities.

We are currently looking for a production assistant who will be dedicated to the development and administrative tasks related to this documentary in particular.

 

Duties include:

  • Conducting research on funding opportunities and helping with the applications;
  • Reading, monitoring and responding to the production department email;
  • Answering and making calls and liaising with potential partners, sponsors, equipment rental houses, crew members, etc;
  • Managing budgeting documents, organizing invoices and keeping spending sheets up to date;
  • Early drafting of correspondence on the producer's behalf;
  • Diary management;
  • Planning and organizing meetings and events;
  • Helping coordinate the crew, preparing papers for meetings: organizing contact list, equipment list, and preparing and delivering daily call sheets in the filming days;
  • Running errands and gathering supplies during the shooting days.

 

Applicants should have:

  • A degree in Film, Communication or related subject (specialization in production preferred);
  • Business and/or management knowledge is a plus;
  • Great verbal and interpersonal communication skills: applicant needs to be able to transmit the project to others clearly and in an appealing way;
  • A love for cinema;

Prerequisites:

To participate in one of our Learning-ships Programs you must fulfill the following prerequisites:

  • Studies level:

    • Coursing the last course or having a bachelor’s degree or being coursing it.

    • Coursing or having a master’s degree or being coursing it.

  • Language: all the written communications and support materials and contents of the programs are in English. Learners must have a Proficiency C1 English level recommended, B2 minimum required.

  • Working experience: we are not necessarily requiring previous working experience although some user experience with enterprise automation applications is recommended.

 

Dedication:

  • Full-Time: minimum dedication of 36 hours per week, every week, and 150 hours per month, every month.

  • Part-Time: minimum dedication of 18 hours per week, every week, and 75 hours per month, every month.
