About the 101 Fellowship

The 101 Fellowship offers ambitious young people a way to get into the world of Venture Capital. VC is one of the most challenging industries to get into, so with a group of VCs, we are offering an 8-week program that includes:

  • An unpaid internship at one of our participating VC funds - 15-20 hours per week
  • Weekly learning sessions covering a broad spectrum of VC topics
  • A proper inside look into how VC firms operate
  • Access to our network of VCs and 101 Fellow alumni
  • An opportunity to get hired - some of our previous Fellows have received job offers from the VCs!

We are not looking for any specific backgrounds. What matters is that you are enthusiastic and can adapt to different tasks quickly in a self-directed way. You will work with others in the fund, but self-starters are always the ones that will go far in venture capital.

You can apply and check out participating funds on our website: www.101fellowship.com

The program runs from late June until late August.

What You Could Work On

Tasks will differ per fund, but here is a range of things the last cohort Fellows did:

  • LP outreach: Reach out to investors and pitch the fund
  • Dealflow: Find and analyze great startups that are fundraising,
  • Create: Pitch decks that present information in a concise and appealing way
  • Sales: Leveraging the fund's network and brand to reach out to alternative investors (non-VC)
  • Communications: Writing emails, sales CRM, research reports
  • Market research: Map out and understand different industries and what other investors are focusing on
  • LP research: Extend the fund's database of follow-on investors

Skills And Requirements

  • Interest in VC: We don't expect you to have loads of experience, but you do need to have an interest in the world of early-stage startups and venture capital
  • Self-starter: You can jump into even unfamiliar tasks and get a handle on them quickly and without much direction
  • Social: The world of venture capital is all about relationships - being comfortable in many different social situations is crucial
  • Presentation: Knowing how to present information concisely and clearly in reports and presentation is helpful
  • BONUS: You can bring your personal twist into the work, be it through your background in programming, data science, research, business development, marketing, etc. We will appreciate it all. :-)
