This is an outstanding opportunity for a dedicated scientist to learn from the best and develop hands-on experience and transferable skills in a rapidly expanding and highly competitive area of modern molecular biology. Working within the Viral Development and Discovery Team, you will be involved in the design, development and production of viral vectors for gene therapy and cell engineering. The team have extensive expertise in the use of adenoviral, adeno-associated virus, and lentiviral vectors and have developed innovative methods for virus production and the generation of viral-based combinatorial libraries.
Design and engineering of viral vectors
Cell culture and production of transducing viral stocks
Viral analytics and infection of target cells
Analysis of both viral and cellular genes involved in virus production
Working towards a degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, virology or related life science degrees, a knowledge of viral replication strategies would be helpful but not essential
Some level of exposure to laboratory work relevant to biological R&D, either academic or industrial Good interpersonal, written and verbal skills, and a desire to develop the ability to speak confidently to peer groups and to present work internally
Computational and/or bioinformatics skills would be helpful
Good organizational and decision-making skills
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
A conscientious, enthusiastic, and outgoing personality with the ability to work as part of a team
Close attention to detail and the capacity to work under precise guidelines is required
