MetGen Oy is currently an innovative SME with 26 experienced employees, based in Kaarina in south-western Finland. Protein engineering is MetGen’s core competence. The company has gathered a dedicated team that is highly experienced in genetic engineering, microbiology and industrial biotechnology, as well as end-user processes, to be able to answer to the customer needs and to ensure excellence on every step from idea to market. MetGen patents the proteins developed by them in order to give legal protection to company’s strategic objective to produce and market industrial enzymes. MetGen has invented a disruptive technology to develop industrial enzymes.

Our enzymatic solutions - MetZymes® - are designed to save energy and resources in harsh industrial conditions of pulp&paper and renewable chemical industries.  Now we are searching for new talents to join our international group of experts and support the fast growth of the company.

Internship Positions

MetGen is searching for internship candidates for a 6 months (preferably longer) project. The projects could start as early as relevant candidate would be found. Candidates MUST have received a European grant AND be affiliated to a European Institution (University, Polytechnical School…) providing health, accident and liability insurance. Successful candidates will be given a challenging project studying the enzyme production or/and the impact of MetZyme® on biomass conversions in pulp and paper, lignin applications (Resins, polyols, etc.,), packaging materials development, biorenewables and wastewater industries. Projects will cover basic laboratory routines and more specific assays related to the given project. Additionally, interns are expected to regularly report and present their results in front of the company. Work language at MetGen is English and good knowledge of MS office tools is always seen as a plus. As compensation, MetGen will accommodate the interns and provide laboratory and office space.
