SLT for Kids is part of the Tx Group, an organisation providing therapy services in the North West of England. The multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals at Tx Group are focused on delivering evidence-based and results-driven services to all. 

SLT for Kids provides high-quality speech and language therapy assessments, reports and treatments for children. Our team of experienced and dedicated speech and language therapists work with children of varying needs and difficulties to improve speech, language and communication skills. We work with individuals in the clinic, at home and in educational settings such as mainstream and special schools, to deliver SLT assessments and therapy programmes. SLT for Kids has exciting opportunities for an Assistant Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy intern to join our team. We are looking to develop our network of employees to help support our team of speech and language therapists in the work they do. We anticipate that the intern will assist paediatric SLT providing speech and language support to children in school settings. Part of the duties will also include providing speech, language and communication screenings to children, working with occupational therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists as part of a multidisciplinary team and writing therapy reports and documenting assessments. Interventions and recommendations.

The assistant paediatric speech and language therapist intern will include assisting in the assessment and treatment of children with speech, language and communication difficulties, completing patient’s notes, delivering therapy groups for children with problems of handwriting, organisational skills, fine and gross motor skills. You may be required to work with teachers and teaching assistants to raise awareness of speech, language and communication needs, and advise how intervention can be best delivered in a school setting. Other aspects of the role are: triaging referrals, assisting with social media, writing blog posts, writing website content, assisting with marketing and business development of the SLT service and working in different school and work settings.

The ideal candidate:

The successful applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Be currently studying towards a degree in speech and language therapy/pathology or recent graduate in speech and language therapy/pathology

  • Have experience working with children 

  • Have a high level of English

  • Be flexible

  • Be happy to use public transport to go to schools

  • Be friendly

  • Provide DBS - criminal record check

  • Have insurance provided by the university

Our ideal candidate will have great prioritisation, time management and organisation skills. Good communication and excellent written and verbal communication are also essential for this role. The person chosen will also be passionate about their own career development.

The successful candidate will be empathetic, understanding and positive about working with children. Other important attributes of an out intern are to be patient, resilient and creative.
