Description:

Gigstarter is the European marketplace for live music booking. Over 9000 artists have signed up and can be booked through our online platform, ranging from house DJs to rock bands and classic ensembles. Our office is based in the centre of Amsterdam. We're a young and versatile team that is always looking to work with energetic and inspiring people. Impact, creativity and sustainability are key.

We're currently looking for a hands-on, creative IT developer with specific interests in back-end, system architecture and API's. You study information science, software engeneering, computer science or alike. If interested apply via this form. This opening is for EU students and EU citizens only and will only be considered with a properly filled in form including motivation letter and CV.

PROJECTAn open API based Utility Network

Gigstarter is extending its infrastructure in order to allow third parties to provide their services within the Gigstarter ecosystem. The aim is to allow service providers (often SaaS) from adjacent services via an open API into our artist booking marketplace. By doing so both independent artists as well as musical programmers (i.e. bookers), will get broader access to services and products needed for self-service event management. Plug-in services can range from administration tools and payroll services to event promotion or music distribution extensions.

Focus:

The project consists of studying and shaping a future proof architecture and introducing the first pilot plug-in services. With our IT and AI team you will define the best open API architecture to align with Gigstarter's plans, current systems and its user's (future) needs. Scalability, privacy, safety, datamanagement/throttling and network flexibility, amongst others are topics that need to be taken into account carefully. Specifically, 3rd party (developer) access and rules versus provided building blocks (libraries), need to be balanced in a pragmatic fashion and will define the feasibility and usability of the utility network itself. If the internship is extended to 9 months one or several of prior topics can serve as a research thesis foundation. The project will be approached in a pragmatic fashion so that plug-in ecosystem tests can be run with utility suppliers. An agile work mentality will result in a user friendly and relevant output.

Way of working:

It entails a full time internship and you'll have a lot of freedom in choosing your approaches to the challenges you'll get. We have lots of data and innovation plans that can form the basis of strong scientific research. We do expect a proactive and pragmatic approach in which research and product oriented development are combined in order to deliver an MVP or pilot in which partners and/or users can be introduced.

Apply:

We have a small remuneration and are flexible in terms of duration. You'll be working from our office in the centre of Amsterdam. We see an internship as a test of a potential long term collaboration, especially if you're also interested/knowledgeable in Rails (or alike) there are multiple follow-up opportunities. More about this project can be found here: https://www.gigstarter.co.uk/be-dev. If interested please apply via this form. This opening is for EU students and EU citizens only and will only be considered with a properly filled in form incl motivation letter and CV.
