Description:

Are you looking for a quite exceptional volunteer or Erasmus experience? One where you will have responsibilities and also the freedom to make your own choices and take the initiative? Within a fully European context and team of young EU and democracy enthusiasts? Look no further!!! We are 10 young people campaigning for Voters Without Borders: a European Citizens Initiative (ECI) demanding full political rights for European citizens on the move and building a coalition to campaign transnationally on the issue of political rights, EU citizenship and democracy. Our taskforce is seeking motivated people to expand its reach especially in the main European cities and in all 27 Member States! As a volunteer, you have full flexibility and autonomy to work, depending on your availability, but you will have an always wide open eye for opportunities and occasions to promote the Initiative! As an unpaid internship, this could be more of a full-time assignment under an Erasmus or other grant scheme. In particular, we are looking for candidates to help “crack” the one million target for the ECI: • CoordinationWe want to strengthen the presence of voters without borders across EU-27 and in particular in major cities where there is a high proportion of EU    citizens and young people. You should have a good knowledge of the region, its administration and civil society combined with the leadership skills to organize events, create alliances and strategies for signature collection. • ResearchWe are constantly updating our message and relating it to elections so that we have new stories, statistics, facts and figures to back up the cause of universal suffrage. You should have a good understanding of electoral processes and population data. • AdvocacyWe are looking for alliances with politicians and political parties at different geographical levels and expect to be involved in lobbying for change with reform of the existing rights of mobile EU citizens to vote and stand in local and European elections already on the agenda. You should be a natural citizen lobbyist and campaigner. • Communication We have mapped facebook groups and need now to create more social media posts in different languages and get the ECI mentioned in mainstream media! We are looking for content-creative souls to produce visuals, podcasts or catchy slogans, write short articles and come up with ideas!! (we have some premium software you are welcome to use). • Kick-start people signingWe are looking for a network of young people with not just all these skills in theory but also the ability to put them to use and persuade people to sign the ECI. Please therefore experiment and write to your friends, family and wider circle asking them to sign the ECI and persuade others to do so. Let us know the result when you write to us.You can be all of these profiles together, and anything else, since running an ECI is multi-tasking on a grand-scale. Don’t hesitate to contact us with suggestions/ enquiries. We will be running Zoom meetings so we can get to know each other in the first half of December. Profile essentials.• Proactive and motivated.• Good knowledge of EU institutions and decision-making processes.• Good communication/visual/graphic skills. What we offer. The ECI is gaining high-profile support. For example, On 29 October 2020 we participated in a public hearing in the European Parliament. We have endorsements from many MEPs and politicians. There have been articles in media outlets such as the Economist and the Süddeutsche Zeitung. It is a great opportunity to write or be interviewed by one such big newspaper, write a column with your name on a well-known blog in your country, raise the profile of your organization and learn a lot more about how an ECI and the EU works! We have regular training sessions and weekly meetings with the team and partner organizations, so it is a great occasion to network too! We very much look forward to hearing from you! Please send your CV with a letter of motivation to [email protected]. Please indicate which region/city you would target and specify in the subject which position you are applying for (Communication, Research, etc.).
