General information

Duration:
3 months
Commitment:
Part-Time
Description:

The Centre for Social Sciences invites Erasmus+ students to work as interns or trainees with the H2020 project DEMOS (Democratic Efficacy and the Varieties of Populism in Europe), coordinated by the Centre. They will help produce and monitor multimedia content for the project’s online platforms, assist with management tasks, and help produce data analysis on the online performance of the project. They will work under the supervision of, and will report to, the project’s Communications Manager. More information about the project at www.demos-h2020.eu and CSS at https://tk.mta.hu/.

Given the current lockdown restrictions, candidates should be able to work remotely and dedicate time for online meetings at CET time. Although students are expected to finance their internship/traineeship with their Erasmus+ grants, as the Centre does not provide any kind of financial compensation, selected candidates will have access to scientific databases and will have the opportunity to develop communication/dissemination skills as well as a deeper understanding of populist politics in an ongoing European-funded project carried out by 15 European partners. Selected candidates will also acquire relevant skills in general communications and project management activities.

The Centre will issue necessary documents/certificate of internship completion to meet the intern’s academic requirements at their universities.

Selected candidates will work either part-time (10 hours a week, flexible) or full time, depending on their Erasmus+ arrangements, ideally for at least 3 months. Upon the selected candidate’s performance and evaluation, this period can be extended. Starting date to be negotiated.

The deadline for expressing your interest is April 19, 2021 at 10 AM (CET). The best candidates will be notified by email for an interview, to take place by the end of April.

The perfect candidate should:

  • be enrolled in journalism/communications studies courses (BAs or MAs), or have prior/equivalent academic background/experience in related areas (e.g., design, arts, political science, radio, video-making, marketing);
  • have fluency in English (mandatory);
  • have knowledge and/or experience in writing/producing content for online platforms and social media (i.e., Website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube);
  • have knowledge and/or experience in monitoring content’s performance on social media and boosting users’ engagement;
  • be familiar with or interested in topics such as populism, democracy, and governance;
  • be familiar with social media analytics or interested in putting into practice data analysis skills for helping with impact reports;
  • be pro-active for project dissemination/communication activities including organizing events, online meetings, designing images, tracking and liaising with project stakeholders;
  • be eager to learn even if they are not an expert in the topics listed above.

We are looking for creative individuals, team-oriented, and committed to translating academic work into language that is understandable and suitable for DEMOS’s target groups in multiple formats.

Candidates should send a CV (up to one page) and a motivation letter (up to 350 words with spaces) to Vinicius Gorczeski [email protected]. The letter should include the candidate’s skills, experience, related interests, and how these would help DEMOS maximize its online presence and impact.
