Who we are

The World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) is a non-profit association that aims to promote the role of wholesale markets in ensuring food security and healthy diets. WUWM is a unique platform that gathers more than 180 wholesale markets around the world where they can exchange of information on wholesale and retail markets aiming to improve their structure, organization and management. We pursue sustainability, accessibility to healthy diets and the enhancing of small and medium producers’ access to the market through the reinforcement of the wholesale sector’s role on the food chain.

WUWM also seeks to improve the industry’s overall knowledge of these aims. We work hand in hand with local authorities and international organizations (FAO, WHO, …) and international NGOs promoting fresh food, healthy diets, inclusiveness, sustainability, accessibility, and gastronomy as an intangible heritage of humanity.

What we are looking for

We are seeking for someone passionate about the food sector (food security, sustainability, fresh logistics and accessibility) able to understand the WUWM’s crucial role in society and to promote its importance and particular interests in a innovative and modern way engaging a global and diverse audience online. The intern will manage WUWM’s social media and communication outreach and is expected to produce and develop high-quality content.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Create original daily content to keep WUWM’s social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) active.
  • Create content for WUWM members and for WUWM partners (interviews with experts, videos of the wholesale industry, summarising important events, etc.)
  • Write in-depth articles on the food industry for WUWM’s newsletter
  • Create visual assets (such as quote cards, didactic videos, GIFs, etc.)
  • Answer social media messages and questions.
  • Elaborate a weekly report on social media publications’ repercussion and number of viewers/new followers.
  • Search for interesting posts and websites from similar associations for further inspiration.
  • Actively expand the network of followers.
  • Update WUWM’s social medias during live events (by using Instagram live, Facebook live etc.)

Qualifications

The intern must be enrolled in/or recently completed a masters degree in journalism, communications, (digital/social) media studies, international relations or a similar subject.

Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English is required; Working knowledge of French and Spanish is a distinct advantage.

Proficiency in communications, social media, planning and organizing, creativity and technological awareness.

Proven research, analytical and documentation skills.
