Cultural Programmer Events / Cinema at LAB-1

Do you want to gain experience in the cinema and event world? At LAB-1 we are currently looking for an intern to support in programming expat events. The internship will start on September 1, 2021 for a period of approximately 6 months.

Eindhoven

With big companies like ASML, NXP, territories like Strijp-S, International schools like Design Academy Eindhoven and Technical University, Eindhoven is a truly diverse city. As of 2021, the population of Eindhoven consisted of 235,679 people.  Of these, 29.5% or some 63,873 people are of foreign descent (Wikipedia/CBS).

However, activities and places for expats / internationals are not well developed yet in our city. At LAB-1 we want to be a hub for the international community of Eindhoven!

Internship

During these 6 months you will start to investigate the international community in Eindhoven and what kind of events are needed. You will talk with government relations like Eindhoven 365 (the city marketing organization of Eindhoven) and others.  You will then develop creative concepts in collaboration with existing Eindhoven collectives/organizations or on your own. You will also have the chance to execute these projects in our building.

Think about cultural evenings (for example Latin-American festival day with movies, music, and food), gatherings & meetups, education, parties, or any other cultural events.

Position

We will offer you a position in developing and executing cinema/events for the international community of Eindhoven. When there is time you will also have the possibility to support in daily work processes. You will get to know the international city of Eindhoven, work in a small team and unique cinema.

There is a chance of a permanent appointment or career opportunities if we are satisfied. Unfortunately, at the moment everything depends on how Corona situation develops further, so we cannot offer any guarantees.

What is LAB-1?

LAB-1 is a cinema, club, event space and a café-bar in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. We are in the oldest cinema (build in 1978) of Eindhoven.

We are a stage for movies, live music, exhibitions, visuals, DJs and events during the day and night. LAB-1 stands for dynamism and creativity, a place to enjoy, hang out and feel at home. Our 5 event / cinema rooms can offer anything from cinema, festivals, events, club nights, quiz & comedy evenings.

We are a unique concept in Europe, and as far as we know the first officially accredited cinema to combine a club, event space and café-bar – all in one!
