Data Scientist Internship

We are looking for a Data Scientist and ML intern, in order to work on our in-house state of the art machine learning models to grow the company and work towards success. If you are interested in a challenging learning opportunity within a start-up, this may be perfect for you.

During your internship, you will gather and analyse data for the University Housing teams so the company can reach new heights. 

Goal of the position:

The Mission of the Data Science and ML Internship is to gather as much usable data as possible and use that to find new opportunities and strategies for University Housing. Data is the starting point which will allow the optimization of many processes and allow University Housing to take advantage of new opportunities.

You will analyze and provide data for different departments within the company by using all UH resources as required. You are analytical and enjoy gathering and analysing data. You can translate said data into opportunities that will greatly benefit the company. You are self motivated and capable of working independently on different projects. During the internship, you’ll work on your own learning plan and are given the opportunity to work on a personal project within the company.
 

What do we expect from you?

• You analyze raw data, assessing quality, cleansing, structuring for downstream processing.

• You create new opportunities through the implementation of our data related projects. 

• You are proactive and a team player.

• You have a bold attitude and are not afraid of taking responsibility.

Minimum experience, education & skill requirements:

• Currently studying Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or any related field at the Bachelor or Master level. 

• Full-time Internship for 40 hours a week, preferably for at least 5 months.

• Full Professional Proficiency in English.

• Fluency in a programming language.

• You have a deep understanding of predictive modeling, machine-learning, regression techniques, and algorithms.

• You know the basics of Git. You know how to work with Linux/shell scripting.

• You have some experience with scikit-learn.

• Basic knowledge of scraping and related frameworks (scrapy, beautifulsoup) is a plus.

• Experience with GIS and basic sysadmin skills are a plus.

• Experience with a Web Stack is a plus.
