Description:

This is an unpaid internship opportunity at a non-profit social organisation. Please only read on and apply if you're willing to volunteer your time in return for thorough training on the job, mentoring, support and other perks. Please also note: due to the UK no longer being part of the Erasmus scheme, we can't accommodate applicants who apply for Erasmus funding. We're still open to cooperate with universities but it can not be part of the Erasmus scheme.

Language Professionals' Networking is an independent, non-profit monthly social gathering. What started out as a London-based initiative back in the summer of 2018, LPNE has now organically grown into an online community of 1000+ language professionals from all over the world.

The purpose of our monthly interdisciplinary meetings is to provide an informal platform where language professionals across all disciplines can meet and connect in a supportive, informal environment.

Who are the attendees of the events?

Language teachers, coaches, trainers, tutors, translators, interpreters, transcreators, voice-over actors, voice coaches, language and speech therapists, language and translation consultants, researchers, subtitlers, proofreaders, editors, copywriters, journalists, forensic linguists, multilingual VAs, computer linguists, language entrepreneurs, and many other wonderful souls follow the initiative and join us each month.

We meet and learn from each other. We are inspired by talks and interviews with some brilliant minds. We ask for support, connect with each other and learn of new opportunities.

The events are hosted and organised by Gabriella Ferenczi. Gabriella is a German and Hungarian language coach, author and entrepreneur. She teaches marketing at Coventry University and runs a London-based boutique language training company called ProLingua Global. She decided to organise these monthly events and create an interdisciplinary community of language professionals for mutual support and inspiration.

Language Professionals' Networking Event is now looking for an ambitious and proactive Digital Marketing Intern with an interest and affinity in event marketing, copywriting and content creation to help us grow the 1000-strong community. Could this be you?

After thorough training and introduction to all aspects of digital events marketing ...

... YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Developing and implementing a future-proof digital marketing strategy for our community.
  • Creating blogs, posts, email updates, videos, and graphics and posting content based on weekly – fortnightly meetings.
  • Looking after our website, optimising it, updating it, and coming up with new ideas to improve it.
  • Looking after our Social Media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Youtube.
  • Engaging the community in our dedicated Facebook group.
  • Improving our newsletters.
  • Creating our annual programme and liaising with potential speakers.

We provide full training and hands-on support on all of these, so no prior experience is required. Time-wise, you'd need to commit around 3 hours to online meetings each week. Once you're trained, depending on the pace of your work, the job itself would take around 6 hours per week.

In an ideal world:

  • You learn quickly and adapt fast to the changing environment.
  • You are passionate about languages and cultures and are interested in learning from people who work in the language industry. This criterion is a non-negotiable must and we want to see in your application how this applies to you.
  • You are a sociable person.
  • You have great written English skills (C1 essential).
  • You have a little experience in digital marketing, OR:
  • No experience just yet but a strong desire to learn, to bring people together, and to make the world a better place.
  • You are a creative, positive spirit along with a passion for personal development.

Principles we live by:

  • It is a luxury to put our interests first. It is an honour to put the interests of others before ourselves.
  • Ideas are important, but implementation is everything.
  • Clarity comes from engagement, not thought.

We are open to this being a short or longer-term internship agreement, ideally somewhere between 6 to 12 months, with flexible start and end dates depending on your availability. We also offer flexible working hours and remote working. As this is a non-profit social initiative, we all volunteer our time and energy for free to it. All the profits we generate are donated to Moorfields Eye Charity. Therefore, we are not in a position to provide financial compensation for the period of the internship.

However, you'll be given thorough training, a nice certificate at the end of your programme, a detailed letter of recommendation for future employers, a public LinkedIn recommendation and endorsement, and plenty of opportunities to build your professional network.

In all cases, Gabriella herself will be your mentor who'll be assisting you during the period of your internship, making sure you get the most out of your learning experience.

Feedback from interns who took part in this very programme:

"I had the opportunity to work with Gabriella during my internship at Language Professionals’ Networking Event. Since day one, Gabriella has been an incredible mentor: thoughtful, inspiring, understanding and always positive. She created a comfortable working environment, where I was encouraged to share my thoughts and ideas, and where I knew I could openly communicate with my colleagues. She showed constant support and genuine willingness to help me in every step of the way. Thanks to her mentorship, I’ve gained confidence and grown a lot, both on a professional and personal level. I was provided with endless opportunities for learning about digital marketing and event planning, putting my skills into practice and making meaningful connections. I am incredibly grateful for having had the opportunity to work alongside Gabriella and learn from her: her passion for what she does and dedication to all the projects she’s involved are truly motivating and inspiring. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor to guide me as I made my way in the world of work." - Anny D.

"Gabriella was my mentor during my internship at Language Professionals' Networking Event. My experience with her has been extremely positive and fulfilling, both on a working and on a human level. Gabriella is an extraordinary mentor who taught me everything about digital marketing. The energy and passion she put into mentoring me every day for a year has been a great source of inspiration, that really made the difference. It's not easy to find a person who genuinely cares about teaching you and who is able to transmit something that goes beyond the job responsibilities, by dedicating others so much time as she did with me, and for this I feel really lucky and grateful to have met her. This has been much more than a simple work experience and for this reason I'll always carry it in my heart." - Ludovica M.

"Working with Gabriella was an extremely rewarding and formative experience for me. I could approach Digital Marketing for the first time as an intern for Language Professionals' Networking Event and, I have to say, Gabriella always encouraged being creative and to freely brainstorm different ideas, what was the best way of working I could ever imagine. She is professional, flexible, positive and the internship was perfectly structured for the absolute 'newbies' in marketing, like I was. I gained confidence and new skills, connected to dozens of language professionals around the world and learned interesting insights related to language industry. Gabriella is an exceptional mentor, I would definitely recommend connecting & collaborating with her!" - Liudmila V.

"Being a Digital Marketing Intern for Language Professionals’ Networking Event was an absolutely wonderful experience. Thanks to Gabriella and her endless positivity, digital marketing transformed for me from incomprehensible to simply doable. I’m thankful, not only for the connections I’ve made and the skills I’ve acquired but also for the positive and supportive atmosphere Gabriella creates - even in the online space. She is a superb mentor!" - Blanka G.
