General information

Duration:
3 months
Commitment:
Full-time
Description:

WHO WE ARE: We are the Open Dialogue Foundation, an NGO based in Brussels, Warsaw and Kyiv working to defend human rights and the rule of law in Poland and the former Soviet Union. We conduct advocacy work with the European institutions, international organizations such as OSCE, CoE, UN, and national bodies to protect activists, change unjust legislation, lead to sanctions against human rights abuses and more.

We are working on the following topics at the moment and you can expect to bring your contribution in our advocacy related to them: human rights in Kazakhstan and Central Asia; rule of law in Poland; financial inclusion of NGOs and civil society; greater transparency for the admission of NGOs to UN bodies; limitation of SLAPPs (strategic lawsuits against public participation) and more.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We are looking for an intern for June and July to assist us with our work. Ideally you would have the following characteristics:

Essential:

  • Fluent English, written and spoken. Other languages are an asset
  • Strong writing skills (business emails, advocacy content)
  • Basic research skills
  • Some knowledge of EU institutions

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING:

From day one you would be part of our small team and would contribute to our work depending on the task we are working on at the moment. Typical duties include: attending events in Brussels (and/or online if the internship is remote); writing emails to MEPs, MPs, decision-makers; identifying relevant contacts; following debates at the European Parliament and taking notes; following relevant international developments; conducting research.

WHERE AND HOW: Ideally you would have an agreement with your university such as Erasmus + or other, but we can also work out another agreement. We are therefore extremely flexible in terms of location and time commitments (either part-time, which would mean 3,5 days, or full time) and allow for the entire internship to be carried out remotely.

Sounds interesting? Write to [email protected] with a CV and a short cover letter (in English). We will get back to you as soon as possible. The position(s) will be filled when (a) suitable candidate(s) is/are found, so do apply immediately if you are interested.
