Description: 

In this role, you will be part of the Fujitsu European Affairs Team, and the Fujitsu European Projects Team, based in Brussels.

On the European Affairs side, this will include monitoring EU regulatory developments and advising the Team on the best advocacy strategy to support the Digital Transformation Business area. You will ensure effective cooperation and coordination with relevant stakeholders, and by developing and leveraging working relationships with the EU Institutions. You will participate in a range of different meetings where you will actively promote Fujitsu policy messages and represent Fujitsu. You will work closely with your colleagues by reporting internally on your areas of responsibility. You will also support the development of external advocacy tools and publications, including position papers, as well as internal-external communication materials.

On the European Projects side, you will focus on monitoring EU Programmes for R&D and developing new project proposals in order to increase Fujitsu investments and activities on R&D in the digital and digital transformation area. You will do so by supporting the Team in ensuring effective project planning and writing, cooperation and coordination with high level partners around Europe and beyond.

For both functions, you will participate in a range of different meetings where you will actively take action and prepare follow up. You will work closely with your colleagues by reporting internally on your areas of responsibility. You will also support the development of external and internal projects communication materials.

Tasks

  • Monitoring and gathering intelligence on EU funded Programmes for R&D; conducting matching analysis with Fujitsu priorities.
  • Monitoring and gathering intelligence on EU regulatory and policy developments relevant for Fujitsu in the digital products and services industry; identifying and flagging up new key issues of potential relevance.
  • Analysing EU developments and initiatives crucial for Fujitsu business and suggest appropriate advocacy actions.
  • Advising on appropriate lobbying strategies, and contributing to their implementation, including by participating in advocacy activities, promoting the policy messages and representing Fujitsu in meetings with EU institutions, Trade Associations, International Organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Building trusted and influential relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Providing support for the development of the Fujitsu positions papers.
  • Regularly reporting internally and to members and collaborating with colleagues across the Team in Europe and Japan.
  • Preparing working materials, follow up papers.
  • Preparing Communication Materials for internal and external use; elaborating text and visual contents.

Profile

  • Preferred minimum (1-2 years) experience in EU affairs and/or EU main Programmes for R&D with an excellent knowledge of EU policy making, ideally in the digital and environmental sectors.
  • University level education, preferably in an area related to EU studies, law, economics, international relations or eventually technical areas such as engineering, data analyst, new technologies with some background on EU Policies and Regulation.
  • Good understanding of strategic and regulatory issues in digital services.
  • Good understanding of project – program management.
  • Highly developed team spirit, sense of responsibility, intellectually curious, ability to take initiatives and be proactive.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills, with ability to tailor messages to different audiences and to speak in public.
  • Good organisational skills and capacity to prioritise and identify key issues.
  • Very good analytical skills, and ability to synthesise feedback and make the complex simple.
  • Excellent drafting skills in English (other languages is a plus).
  • An outgoing and dynamic personality.
  • Good level of use of communication tools (social media, presentation tools and graphics programs would be a plus).

  • 4 to 6 months, starting October 2024 or January 2025
