Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education (SMI) is an academic institution providing a diverse range of courses and programmes in computing and business at EQF Level 5, 6 and 7. The Institute strives to continuously improve on its existing technological infrastructure and information systems to run its processes as efficiently as possible, with data integrity and security in mind. This post is for an individual to help the IT Team with day-to-day operations and planned hardware/networking projects and upgrades.
Duties and responsibilities
- Understand the requirements of the system/s to be able to contribute to their design and implementation aspects;
- Be part of a team and work directly with members of the team as required, but can also work independently;
- Troubleshoot basic networking and/or hardware issues in a client-server infrastructure;
- Any other hardware/networking duties as may arise from time to time, depending on the exigencies of the company.
Qualifications
To qualify for this post, the candidate should be at an advanced stage of reading for a Degree in Computing (or equivalent). Experience with computer systems hardware, servers, network switches and patch panels, is considered an asset.
