Image Music text - IMT - IMT Gallery? Yes – that’s us!

IMT Gallery is not just an art gallery as any other. Everyone in the #IMTeam is part of growing the gallery and it's artists, in their own personal and sometimes even crazy ways!

IMT Gallery is a multidisciplinary space for new media and multi-media art but, there is so much more! We consider IMT Gallery as a special and unique place. We don’t support names, we support artists and art in which we believe. Growing up is exciting and so is our gallery!

Activities will include:

▹ Front of house duties (invigilation, welcoming the public)

▹ Marketing and promotion of our exhibition and events programme, art fairs and represented/presented artists

▹ Assisting in the development of the gallery’s brand and overall marketing and communications strategy

▹ Inventory management through the creation of catalogues and artist portfolios

▹ Researching the art market and opportunities for represented artists and the gallery

▹ Networking at events held at the gallery and attending previews and exhibitions in London

Become part of the #IMTeam!

The #IMTeam says:

I’m so happy I had the opportunity to do my internship at IMT Gallery! I felt like home straight away on the first day. All thanks to the amazing #IMTeam. Along with being very professional and hard-working Lindsay and Marta are also super warm and welcoming (not to mention their great sense of humour). After spending just a few minutes in their company I felt like we had been friends forever.  In my opinion, it’s essential to feel comfortable around your colleagues; it’s one of the most important requirements for executing your work effectively, so IMT definitely has this part covered.

In regards to my responsibilities at the gallery, they were always different, ranging from working on marketing materials and researching artists to assisting in setting up new shows. The great thing about doing an internship at IMT Gallery is that you are treated like more than just an intern; you truly are a part of a team, where everyone has serious responsibilities. Therefore, I can undoubtedly say that my experience at IMT was enlightening in many ways, helpful for my future and most definitely fun. Highly recommend!

The IMT Erasmus+ placement in arts marketing and general gallery operations was an excellent opportunity to gain an insider’s perspective on the current London arts markets. As part of the city’s significant network of smaller art spaces IMT gave me practical experience that proved useful for my subsequent productions of arts projects. At the same time IMT challenged me to bring in my own imagination regarding graphic design and media strategies. I would recommend the internship to anyone who is enthusiastic about contemporary visual arts, ready to work weekend times and has a good sense of humour.

The first feeling you get when you start at IMT Gallery is that you feel just like home. The #IMTeam is like a family! The work atmosphere is super friendly and fun but very professional at the same time. Working at IMT is all about working together and learning. During the three months internship I was given the task of creating online and offline marketing and communication strategies for two online auctions. I also was able to develop my knowledge in social media and branding as well as marketing. I also put into practise my graphic design skills by using programme such as photoshop, illustrator or InDesign. Working at IMT have given me a comprehensive knowledge of the art world. By attending events around London I have been able to get a first-hand look into London's art scene.  At the end of the internship period, I was lucky enough to be asked to stay and work as Communications Manager. Up until today, I still enjoy every minute of it. I'm very grateful to Lindsay (Director) and Mark (Curator) for giving me this opportunity and for trusting me and being so supportive. This experience has turned out to be the best working and life experience that I have ever had so far, no doubt! So if you're looking for a place to learn and grow professionally at the same time as having a good time then IMT Gallery is the place to be!

Marta Esteban Riba | Erasmus+ Intern May - August 2015

Three years ago, I was accepted by IMT Gallery on an Erasmus internship and professional development. I am a thirty year old art historian, working as a teacher at the History of Art department at the University of Zadar in Croatia. Since my interests lay in contemporary art and new media art, I have found myself fortunate to be given the opportunity to learn, to expand, to meet such wonderful mentors as Lindsay and Mark, as well as a number of artists and art lovers. Lindsay is not only an experienced and knowledgeable person, but also extremely dedicated and passionately involved with contemporary art and running a gallery. Those qualities and her spirit helped the working atmosphere in the gallery, and I felt myself well guided and comfortable in that kind of environment.

My daily duties involved contacting the artists, enhancing existing databases, working as a host guide for a few exhibitions, and I was engaged with the setting up the exhibitions etc.

The most useful aspects of my experience were writing project proposals, and gaining an understanding of what is all it takes to run a small private gallery.

The experience in the IMT Gallery was extremely valuable in my professional development and in that respect I am very grateful that Lindsay and Mark gave me such an opportunity.

Karla Lebhaft | Erasmus+ Intern July - September 2014

At IMT Gallery I had the opportunity to learn the day to day running of an art gallery, and it was a really important experience for me to extend my knowledge around contemporary art. I felt at home during the time that I had been working with the IMT crew, as well as with their represented artists, Lindsay always gave me the freedom to express my ideas, concerns and perspectives. It was definitely a rich experience for me, so highly recommend IMT Gallery!
