Who we are
The World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) is a non-profit association that aims to promote the role of wholesale markets in ensuring food security and healthy diets. WUWM is a unique platform that gathers more than 180 wholesale markets around the world where they can exchange of information on wholesale and retail markets aiming to improve their structure, organization and management. We pursue sustainability, accessibility to healthy diets and the enhancing of small and medium producers’ access to the market through the reinforcement of the wholesale sector’s role on the food chain.
WUWM also seeks to improve the industry’s overall knowledge of these aims. We work hand in hand with local authorities and international organizations (FAO, WHO, …) and international NGOs promoting fresh food, healthy diets, inclusiveness, sustainability, accessibility, and gastronomy as an intangible heritage of humanity.
What we are looking for
We are seeking for someone passionate about the food sector (food security, sustainability, fresh logistics and accessibility) able to understand WUWM’s crucial role in society and to help examine ways to grow the organization in terms of membership, sponsorship, international outreach, financial capabilities, and marketing strategies. In addition, we are looking for someone who understands basic financial reporting, business analysis, and is up-to-date with international financial institutions.
Duties and responsibilities
- Conduct research into growth opportunities for WUWM (growing membership, sponsorship, partnerships, and international involvement)
- Support in developing new marketing strategies
- Market research
- Financial administration
- Update WUWM on developments in international economic policy and international financial institutions
The intern must be enrolled in/or recently completed a masters degree in international business, economics, business administration, (international) marketing, international relations or a similar subject.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English is required; Working knowledge of French and Spanish is a distinct advantage.
Proficiency in market research, financial administration, marketing strategies, and networking
