Seaborough
At Seaborough we develop new technologies for LED lighting. We patent our inventions, and license these patents to lighting companies to use our technologies in their products. Innovation and research is the core of what we do.
The project
In our Materials Team we develop new luminescent materials (phosphors) for LEDs. Conventionally, these materials have particle sizes in the micron size range. However, in order to develop materials with new properties for next generation LEDs, it is required to downsize the particles towards nanoscale. This requires a different type of chemistry and thus new challenges and optimization strategies. We have developed a range of different high quality nanophosphors, which require further optimization and transfer of the synthesis methods to a continuous flow system. We also have more challenging projects available, which require the exploration of completely new synthesis approaches and detailed (optical) study of the interaction between nanoparticles.
Practically, the project involves the inorganic synthesis of luminescent nanomaterials and analysis using fluorescence spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and nitrogen physisorption.
Team
The Materials Team at Seaborough consists of (young) researchers and technicians with a chemistry and/or physics background. As internship student you will be a full member of the team, including participation of all (group) meetings and fun activities.
