General information
The internship is intended to provide training in a number of marine geology techniques in the Marine Geosciences department of Instituto Andaluz de Ciencias de la Tierra, which focus on the multidisciplinary study of present-day continental margins and basins.
The student will participate in the activities of a currently running research project: Alboran Shelf-Slope cOupling processes and deep sediMent trAnsfeR: Source To Sink approaches and implications for biodiversity. Under this project, several databases are available: multibeam bathymetry, seafloor images and videos, medium and high resolution seismic profiles and sediment cores.
The major goals of the proposed research are to characterize the spatio-temporal variability of depositional and erosional processes which generate small-scale morpho-stratigraphic features such as submarine undulations and slope gullies, in several settings of the northern margin of the Alboran Sea, western Mediterranean Basin, around the prodeltaic protuberance of the Guadalfeo River
