Language Assistant

we are looking for highly motivated students eager to spread information about their cultures and share their language with both pupils and members of the staff. The candidate should like working in teams and work with teenagers. He/She should be sociable, out-going, responsible and flexible. The main mission of the assistant is to assist the English teacher during the lessons in the high school La Mennais and in a nearby junior high school. The assistant will also have to organise conversation clubs on lunch time or at other times once or twice a week. He will be committed in the international activities of the school such as the European day, which is in May. This is an Erasmus + position, meaning we mainly hire people able to get the Erasmus grant. If you are not eligible to it we still have possibilities but your placement should not last more than a month. 

Activities:

1. Assist language teachers in class:

- explain his/her culture to the class linked to a particular topic studied in class

- explain grammar in context with real-life example

- work on phonology (pronunciation, intonation) with the teacher

- manage small group activities like debates, songs …

- one to one conversation to prepare students for exams

2. Assist non language teachers :

- helping with the preparation of activities in the target language in history or science.

3. Animation of conversation clubs or other propositions made by the assistant.

4. Promotion of his/her home country:

- speak about his/her own country to the students of all classes

- help people discover the culture

- help the students develop curiosity about the culture and language of the hometown, home country …

5. Possibility of going to primary schools to present the language and the country.
