Maintenance Technician - Internship

Maintenance Technician Internship:

AquaBioTech Group actively encourages students and post-graduates to undertake training sessions at our company, to gain valuable practical, applied, and hands-on experience.  The trainee will gain practical experience working on maintenance and engineering challenges associated with the company’s recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) and gain insight into the research and development work carried out in ABT Innovia.  The internship is unpaid, but accommodation is provided for free.

Synopsis of the position offered

An internship position within the AquaBioTech Group has arisen for a qualified person to work as a Maintenance Technician Intern on a variety of research projects across our company and within our R&D facility known as ABT Innovia.  The responsibilities of the selected candidate may include but are not limited to:

• Working closely with the Maintenance team, completing daily/routine tasks 

• Installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical and plumbing equipment

• Recirculation Aquaculture System (RAS) installation, repair, and maintenance

• Service and repair of general machinery and appliances

• Painting, plastering, and completing other construction projects

• Fix and maintain all mechanical equipment, buildings, and machines

• Assisting the Maintenance Department in continuous improvement efforts by reviewing procedures, analysing data, and implementing sustained process improvements.

• Performing general handyman works and ad hoc tasks (i.e. furniture assembly)

Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, the position is demanding requiring a person who is highly motivated, self-organised, possesses a high level of integrity and discipline with a strong work ethic, and able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the rest of the team.  The selected person must be prepared to work to very tight deadlines in isolated and multi-functional projects and in conjunction with a team of international staff based at our head-office in Malta, as well as the staff who are working at our foreign project sites.
