AquaBioTech Group encourages students and post-graduates to undertake training sessions at our company, to gain valuable practical, applied, and hands-on experience. From this internship, the trainee will gain practical experience related to Quantum GIS, data exploration and analysis, Environmental Impact Assessment and report writing, together with fieldwork when applicable, involving ROV and scuba diving. During the internship, the trainee will also be involved in the pre-processing and exploratory data analysis including image labelling, processing, and augmentation techniques. This variety of tasks will be performed within the Marine department.
SYNOPSIS OF POSITION OFFERED The responsibilities of the successful candidate may include, but are not limited to: • Benthic species and substrate identification for computer vision survey analysis, • GIS analysis, • Report writing, • Image processing and augmentation techniques • Data entry, exploration, and analysis • Field activities • Meetings • Other tasks as required Qualifications Overview A successful candidate is likely to have a good solid background in marine science, or ecology, preferably undergraduate students on their last year, or B.Sc. recent graduates. The selected candidate will be required to speak and write English fluently, and knowledge of any other languages would be considered an asset, although not essential. The selected candidate must have a clear EU passport with no travel restrictions or legal convictions. Required experience. - Good computer literacy - Previous experience in EIA and benthic studies - Flexible and adaptable able to concentrate on detailed tasks for long periods. Preferred additional experience. - Experience with QGIS - Image augmentation and processing techniques - Experience with big data sets - Previous experience in EU funded projects - Experience writing blogs/ social media posts / popular science articles - Experience in citizen science/ volunteering Time needed: 6 months preferred.
