Description:

BioFlux is a climate start-up working to accelerate carbon removal to achieve a net-zero economy. BioFlux is a consultancy and project development firm focused on Biochar Carbon Removal.

Biochar Carbon Removal is a method of converting biomass waste streams into biochar, a stable form of carbon. Biochar Carbon Removal is an established CDR method that can be deployed at large scales to permanently remove CO₂ and fight climate change.

We specialise in expert consulting and project development to foster the growth of the biochar carbon removal sector. Our consultancy is catered to both industrial biochar producers and companies seeking to incorporate biochar into their net-zero strategy. Our work covers topics such as feasibility studies, knowledge-building, developing carbon removal implementation strategies, identifying pyrolysis technologies, biochar application, carbon credits, and certification.

As project developers, we work with smallholder farmers in the global south. These projects focus on converting agricultural residues into biochar, which is then used to improve soil health and generate new incomes for farmers through carbon financing mechanisms.

Visit our website (www.bioflux.earth) for insights into our past and ongoing projects.

Responsibilities

As an intern you will be responsible for developing communication materials (blogs, social media posts) and supporting the BioFlux team in its business development (client acquisition, project development, business strategy support). You will also be invited to work on consulting projects such as feasibility studies, project design and implementation, research, etc. If you are a bachelors or master student, we are also open to research internships within the framework of your thesis.

Although BioFlux is mainly Brussels-based, our projects and clients are located around the world, therefore we are looking for an intern to (mainly) work remotely (with the possibility of joining us in-person if/when possible/necessary). You will join a small but extremely dedicated team of co-founders, providing you the opportunity to be involved in many of our day-to-day operations and decision-making processes.

As a communicator, you will help define and implement the company’s communication strategy. You will be responsible for writing interesting and thought-provoking articles to be published on LinkedIn and our website. You will also be responsible for improving, and ultimately growing our online presence to increase our reach and visibility.

As a business developer, you will be tasked with growing our impact. You will help define strategies, identify clients, identify new opportunities and more. You will also be invited to work on specific parts of consulting projects.
