The Museum is located in the area of Rossano, also known as the " Byzantine Pearl " of Calabria. Many monuments remind of the glorious and splendid past that has seen the crossroads between East and West from the sixth to the eleventh century. Besides its cultural heritage, Rossano attracts local and foreign tourists thanks to its sea and splendid mountains as the nearby natural reserves of Parco nazionale del Pollino and Parco Nazionale della Sila. The Museum is run by "Insieme per Camminare", a cultural association, which regularly offers guided tours in the whole plain of Sybaris and organizes exhibitions, conventions, concerts, presentations of books and educational activities in the museum spaces.
