OT for Kids provides high-quality occupational therapy assessments, reports and treatments for children. Our team of experienced and dedicated occupational therapists work with children of varying needs and difficulties to improve the daily skills required to develop, recover, improve, as well as maintain the skills needed for daily living. We work with individuals in the clinic, at home and in educational settings such as mainstream and special schools, to deliver occupational therapy assessments and therapy programmes. OT for Kids has an exciting opportunity for an occupation therapist intern to join our team of passionate therapists. We anticipate an intern will play a leading role in the development of OT for Kids as a service. You will have the opportunity to assist paediatric occupational therapists providing occupational therapy support to children in school settings. Assisting in the treatment of children with physical and sensory conditions, completing patient’s notes, delivering therapy groups for children with problems of handwriting, organisational skills, fine and gross motor skills and working with speech therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists as part of a multidisciplinary team.

 

The occupational therapist intern will help with writing therapy reports and documenting assessments, interventions and recommendations and will be working with teachers and teaching assistants to raise awareness of occupational therapy, and advise how occupational therapy can be best delivered in a school setting. Other important tasks of this role include: triaging referrals, assisting with social media, writing blog posts and website content, assisting with marketing and business development of the occupational therapy service and working in different school and work settings.

The ideal candidate:

The successful applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Be currently studying towards a degree in OT or recent graduate in OT

  • Have experience working with children 

  • Have a high level of English

  • Be flexible

  • Be happy to use public transport to go to schools

  • Be friendly

  • Provide DBS - criminal record check

  • Have insurance provided by the University

 

Our ideal candidate will have great prioritisation, time management, organisation and communication skills. Excellent written and verbal communication is also expected from the candidate.
