Function description
As a Dramaturgy Intern at The Airport Society you will closely collaborate with our artistic team and be involved in research, development and production of new artistic projects in the field of opera and music theatre. You will often act as the first point of contact with collaborating artists and organisations in Belgium and internationally, as well as with the press. If needed, you will also travel to provide dramaturgical assistance during projects abroad.
Tasks are likely to include:
- carrying out research (text- and visuals-based)
- amalysing muscial structure of the works
- assisting by concept development
- putting together concept presentations and project portfolios
- participating in the rehearsals
- acting as a creative and critical discussion partner
- writing, editing and proofreading dramaturgical and communication texts
- occasionaly translating texts
- writing and editing grants applications
- liaise with collaborating artists and organisations in order to carry out specific projects
- occasionally facilitating contacts with the press and media
Expectations
An ideal Intern:
- has wide interest in and understanding of contemporary culture and society, as well as ability to read musical score and discuss issues related to music
- is curious of the new and the yet unknown, creative in finding solutions to unexpected problems, and have an empathic approach to the others
- is able to work independently, follow up on deadlines and communicate in a transparent way
- has very good computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- is fluent in English and German
- is available to travel in Europe.
