Description:

We like to say that you take as much from your internship as you put into it. This means that if you are pro-active and full of ideas then your internship with us is likely to be an extremely rewarding experience! We are more than happy to give you the freedom, resources and responsibilities to exceed your task description. And of course we will guide you through this learning experience in our young and dynamic way.

Why join our team?

  • You will get the opportunity to discover the beautiful and dynamic city of Amsterdam, with its unique lifestyle and culture
  • You will be able to ride your bike to work and contribute to environmental sustainability
  • You will be able to meet many people from different backgrounds within and beyond your working environment
  • Get to know amazing people in the team and learn how to work in a team and individually
  • You will get to know many cool locations & events in Amsterdam during our ad hoc projects
  • The opportunity to experience working in a Startup and be proactive everyday
  • A chance for you to be living in another country on your own and to observe how far this will take you
  • The workplace is located in the coolest building in town - it’s managed co-operatively by artists and activists alike
  • You will have full access to our (international) network of researchers, activists and organisations working on making this world a better place
  • Finally, we offer free weekly dinners, surplus groceries, tea and coffee in the office!

Many students from UvA, VU and Amsterdam University College and more have already embarked on an internship with Taste Before You Waste and it has been a valuable experience for all of us. We are also a registered foundation (Stichting), meaning that you can receive official accreditation for your university or workplace if so desired.

Our internships, just as our community, are all about co-creation and empowerment. We do not require you to have specific experience before starting your journey with us. If you do, in turn, have expertise that you would like to apply to our cause, we are always looking to improve our work-in-progress. What is important for us is that we learn and grow together with our interns.

As an intern, you attend weekly meetings with the other Core Team members, in which we reflect on the events of the week, the progress on all projects and plans for the coming week, as well as making collective decisions and strategise on the bigger picture of our organisation. Otherwise, you are free to either work at our office in Amsterdam or from home, unless your position requires otherwise.

Unfortunately we are not able to compensate interns financially for their time and energy. All we can offer are free weekly dinners and surplus groceries and being part of a conscious and engaged community of food heroes. Connected to that, we also understand that everyone has busy, complex lives and appreciate every commitment – so we are quite flexible in terms of working hours.
