Period:
1 Feb, 2021 to 30 Nov, 2021
Deadline:

General information

Duration:
8 months
Commitment:
Full-time
Description:

The Erasmus+ intern will be involved in a project related to the generation of new neurons in the adult mouse brain, a process known as adult neurogenesis. The project focuses in the generation of the adult neurogenic niche in the hippocampus during development . For that purpose, the intern will learn how to section  the mouse brain (using cryostat and vibratome systems); perform fluorescent inmunostaining; confocal image acquisition and ImageJ image analysis. The laboratory also uses an in vitro culture system to grow neural progenitors and stem cells from adult and developmental hippocampus as neurospheres. Thus, the intern will acquire as well knowledge about neurosphere expansion, viral cell transduction and DNA nucleofection to modify specific gene expression in those cells. After few weeks of training in each of the procedure, the intern will be responsible of performing those experiments on him/her own under the supervision of a technician and a PhD student.
