General information

Duration:
5 months
Commitment:
Part-Time
Description:

Research line:  Development of composites for water purification by filtration.

Overview: the current filtration systems, filled with active carbon (in potabilisation processes) or sand (in the regeneration of treated wastewater)  re inefficient for the removal of certain emerging pollutants (fragrances, UV screeners, pharmaceuticals, etc.) and pathogens, increasingly widespread by human activities. Filtrations systems are currently designed in this group by the use of modified clays with a high adsorption capacity of both recalcitrant pollutants and pathogens.

Expected training: The applicant will be trained in the combined knowledge of organo-clay mineral interactions, analytical and microbiological procedures, surface characterization of materials, water treatment technologies and theoretical studies.

Compensation:
No financial compensation
Years of Experience required:
No

Additional Information

All the facilities required are on hand in the IRNAS-CSIC and available for their use by the applicant. They include X-ray diffraction, FTIR spectrometry, GC-MS, HPLC equipped with fluorescence and diode array detectors, fluorometry, sterile hoods, etc.. There are other techniques (HPLC-MS, flow cytometry, TG-DSC) accesible through the Central Research Facilities of the University of Seville.
