Our mission is to preserve the authenticity of cities through the power of play.
Secret City Trails takes travellers and locals on urban adventures – or city discovery games. During the games you solve a trail of riddles via our web app. Using a web app means no downloads are needed, just a little data. As you solve the riddles you explore a city’s hidden gems and unlock stories about the sights and area you are in, as well as (secret) recommendations to wonderful cafes and bars. The trails are a playful, off-the-beaten-track and self-guided way of discovering a city.
The role
Front-end and back-end maintenance and development + a bit of data science
As our Tech Engineer, you focus on supporting us to maintain and develop a solid tech setup. This role includes working on both the front-end and back-end of the website application we use, WordPress, as well as integrations, APIs and much more.
Your day-to-day tasks include:
- Maintenance and improvements of the website (WordPress, HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP)
- Refactor existing Python and PHP code
- Help to develop new features for the django app, backend and frontend (Python, Javascript, HTML, CSS)
- Work together with the marketing team for tests on the website and app
- Produce insights from collected dataYour profile
You’re detail-oriented and have a strong desire to get shit done
We hire for attitude. We’re looking for a Tech Engineer who knows how to get shit done, proposes new ideas beyond his/her daily role and thrives in an unstructured environment.
Skills we’re after;
- Excellent command of the English language
- Incredible attention to detail
- Highly organised
- Knowledge of at least 2 of the following; HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Experience with web frameworks (django, flask, …), Python (or similar), PHP
