Description:

FRANCE: French school in Brittany is looking for an English-speaking Erasmus assistant as soon as possible

We are a private catholic high-school with about 650 students aged 11 to 15. Our school is located in the south of Brittany, in Pontchâteau or nearby. 10 000 inhabitants live in Pontchâteau, a pleasant and interesting area with both historical and still living landmarks (the Breton language and culture, local and delicious cuisine). It is situated close to Nantes and Saint-Nazaire and only a 30-minute drive from the Atlantic Ocean, 10 minutes from the salt marshes, the natural park of Brière and the medieval town of Guérande.

You will meet warm and welcoming inhabitants. Numerous facilities encourage a rich cultural life with good sporting opportunities. Access is available to a bright new media library, a theatre, a cinema and a swimming-pool. There is an international airport in Nantes and a train station in Pontchâteau enabling an easy commute between cities ( Nantes, Rennes, Vannes, Paris...)

Our school presents several points: a dynamic and enthusiastic teaching staff, a personal welcome for every guest as we embrace the values of respect, fraternity and the importance of opening up to the world. What's more, our students are motivated, keen to progress and personable. In these ways the school's working climate and ethos are excellent.

Numerous projects are led for and by students to allow them to progress and develop relevant skills.

The arrival of an Erasmus assistant would really be a great benefit to us and would give enhanced meaning to the English learning. We have already hosted several language assistants in our high school and it has always been an enriching and rewarding experience for students and teaching staff.

The main mission of the Erasmus assistant will be to play a part in classes in the high school, with the help of the language teachers, in order to vary the educational activities offered and to work in small groups. Thus, students will improve their communicative and speaking skills.

If the assistant wishes, extra-speaking activities can be organised; he/she can develop international partnerships via Etwinning, with the help of voluntary teachers or arrange advanced courses of English for the teaching staff or other activities. If possible, we would also like the person to be ready to assist other teachers (P.E teachers, music teachers, art teachers...).

To facilitate financially the everyday life of the Erasmus assistant, we offer accommodation: a private room and bathroom, a bright new kitchen in the house dedicated to the staff, just opposite the school. Part of the lunch expenses will be taken care of by the school who will welcome the Erasmus assistant.

So, if you think you are the right person to accept this mission we look forward to your application
