General information
We're an organization from Zagreb, Croatia that helps refugees in their integration and inclusion in society in various aspects: informal education, employment, organizing events and meetings with local society, etc. One of our programs is called Coders without borders, coding courses for refugees and asylum seekers. We teach basics of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. We have teachers who are working in IT companies or freelance software developers volunteering for the organization. We’re the only ones in Croatia who support refugees by giving them a chance to enter the IT world through IT non-formal education and are the part of Migracode network of European coding schools for refugees and asylum seekers. Since March 2018, we've organized and carried out 6 courses and a few workshops. We had more than 50 students altogether in our classes with 15 of them who finished the courses until the end. This year we had an intermediate course for the first time and summer traineeships in Croatian development companies and this fall we'll carry out the advanced course for the first time with the aim of the employment in the end.
On this position you'll be responsible for:
- carrying out the beginners and intermediate courses of coding according to the curriculum
- developing future plans and adjusting curriculum to our beneficiaries together with our experienced teachers
- exchanging experience with other teachers in the Migracode network
- potentially, going to educations on how to teach adults and vulnerable groups
We're looking for a person who's interested in teaching, transferring knowledge and helping others learn and grow their skills and who's sensible to the problems of vulnerable populations.
