Geographical and cultural description

The city of Castellon is located in the Costa Azahar to the east of the Iberian Peninsula. It is bordered by the province of Tarragona to the north and Valencia to the south. It has an ideal location, being convenient and well-connected within the Mediterranean region. It is also noted both for its beautiful beaches in villages like Benicassim and Oropesa and for its proximity to the mountains.

In the economic field, its fishing and trading port is remarkable for being an essential means of communication for citrus fruits and tile exports.

In the academic and social field, the contribution of Universitat Jaume I and the Official School of Languages have been crucial to developing and fostering the cultural richness and job placement through the different formative and linguistic programmes which are a reference on the autonomic and national level in innovation and educational quality.

That’s the reason why the EOI of Castellón plays an important role in the promotion of global communication as a supporting nexus between cultures through the different study programmes in the learning of languages.

In addition, Castellón offers a great cultural variety through its well-known “Fiestas de la Magdalena” that commemorate between February and March the origins of the town in the 13th century. Some other typical festivities are “La Ruta de la Tapa” in October and November when you can enjoy the delicious Mediterranean cuisine, the entertaining parades of Carnaval del Grao, the religious splendour of the Easter Week in April, the MUT festival at the end of September and many other music festivals, among which the International Festival of Benicassim (FIB), Arenal Sound and Rototom outstand in the summer season.

Castellón is a pleasant town that combines beach and mountain, is well communicated and affordable to live in, with an enviable Mediterranean gastronomy and a great entertainment, cultural and educational scene. Go with the flow in Castellón and live an enriching experience in one of the most vibrant corners of the Mediterranean.

Description of the school and students

The Official School of Languages is a state school specialised in modern languages (German, Arabic,  Chinese, Spanish for foreigners, Basque, French, English, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian and Valencian) at all levels (A1-C2). Our objective is to prepare our students for a multilingual and multicultural world and to increase job opportunities and international mobility. For its proximity to the Universitat Jaume I and the train and bus stations, the school has become an essential feature in what is now one of the most sociocultural, dynamic and accessible areas of the town.

Our courses and linguistic programmes are aimed at a diverse set of recipients that includes students, workers, unemployed people and pensioners, from different nationalities and ages (from 14 onwards), giving our school a pluralistic, dynamic and inclusive spirit.
