Description:

The core editorial team operates in the offices of Warsaw, working together with the team of the Polish daily “Krytyka Polityczna,” the publishing house, and the Institute for Advanced Study, a leading research centre in this part of Europe. The internship will take place in the Warsaw offices of Political Critique. We are looking for young and motivated students still pursuing their degrees and also for alumni who are seeking opportunities to learn how a modern media project works. We seek candidates with an excellent knowledge of written and spoken English, basic skills in editing (Microsoft Office), and who are accustomed to a social media environment. Nevertheless, the most important factor is willingness to learn new skills in a fast-paced newsroom. We offer a unique learning environment in one of the most vivid, intellectual groups in Poland. Being teamed up with the editorial team of Political Critique, interns will have access to different branches of the organisation, which can be a chance to acquire new skills in editing or research. Unfortunately, at this point we cannot offer a financial gratituity for an internship, but we strongly encourage candidates to apply for external funding and scholarships, and we offer any necessary assistance in preparing the application. The main responsibilities of the intern will involve:

  •  organise and evaluate the content submitted to be published
  •  proofreading and editing pieces
  •  acquiring rights for translation
  •  writing articles
  •  networking with other news agencies and political commentators
  •  managing social media
  •  using digital media, online publishing and promotional tools

Interns will have a chance to discuss and publish their own work. Thus an internship at Political Critique could be a great start for a career in international journalism. We encourage anyone interested in international journalism, or in contemporary politics, society, culture, and/or economics in Central and Eastern Europe to apply to our project.
