Description: 

In this role you will research and analyse the potential of voluntary emission reduction projects in Europe under European voluntary carbon standards and schemes, such as the Green Deal Nationale Koolstofmarkt (GDNK) or the Woodland Carbon Code, and related standards in different countries around the world. You will support South Pole at the different stages of project development including working on and researching methodologies under European voluntary carbon standards, as well as analysing the potential of projects. If you are an enthusiastic and dynamic person with relevant academic background and are passionate to contribute to the fight against climate change, then we are looking for you.

 

Tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Work closely with the European Projects team to research and analyse emission reduction projects, voluntary carbon methodologies and related standards in different countries around the world

  • Evaluate different standards and schemes in Europe on their potential

  • Provide support at different stages for project development, such as conducting project feasibility studies, emission reduction estimations and developing tools and templates to facilitate project development

  • Identify innovations and sustainable technologies that could be applicable as emission reduction projects under the European schemes                    

  • Understand project partners’ or owners’ needs, gather market intelligence and identify industry trends.

  • Engage with potential project owners and project partners

  • Provide other relevant support to project managers

 

Your profile

 

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Environmental Science or other environmental related disciplines

  • Relevant work experience is valued

  • Excellent written and oral command of English and Dutch. Other European languages such as German, Spanish or French are considered a strong plus

  • Ability to work autonomously as well as within a larger team

  • Excellent communication skills

  • European nationality or holder of a valid work permit is a must
