Call for Erasmus Interns: Computer Vision Intern at University of Hamburg

Contact person: [email protected]

About Us:
We are an innovative computer vision group at University of Hamburg, where we investigate concepts of the human visual system and develop algorithms inspired by these mechanisms for solving computer vision tasks. We are looking for an intern for our industry-oriented research project, InteGreatDrones. This project is a collaboration with various partners which aims at revolutionizing process and activity monitoring in inland port terminals using autonomous drone technology.

Project Overview:
InteGreatDrones seeks to establish a robust digitalization foundation for inland port terminals, eliminating the need for expensive fixed infrastructures. By deploying an autonomous drone fleet, we aim to capture continuous image data to monitor terminal activities, ensuring privacy through local data pre-processing and anonymization.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of novel computer vision architectures for a task such as object detection, pose estimation or scene text spotting.
  • Assist computer vision group members in their research.
  • Participate in dataset creation and review.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and project partners.

Requirements:

  • Academic background in computer science or related field.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Having German language skills is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Python and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail.

What we expect:

  • Timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Effectiveness in problem-solving and technical input.
  • Successful implementation of innovative computer vision solutions.

What we offer:

  • Tasks designed based on individual skills and career targets.
  • Hands-on experience in an industry-oriented research project.
  • Co-authorship of publication(s), depending on the outcome of the assigned tasks.
  • Collaborative team environment consisting of experienced members in the field of computer vision.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate academic commitments.
  • Networking opportunities through participation in project partner meetings and events.
