6 months
Commitment:
Full-time
Description:

This internship offers hands-on laboratory experience in the DairySafe research group at the Dairy Research Institute IPLA-CSIC that belongs to the Food Science and Technology area of CSIC.

We are actively working on lactic acid bacteria (LAB), a group of microorganisms widely use in food fermentations and other biotechnological applications. Our aim is understanding how LAB sense and respond to stressful conditions to define gene regulatory networks and develop strategies to generate robust strains, well adapted to industrial applications. We are currently following a systematic pipeline from omics to genetic and phenotypic studies.

The student will be trained in microbial genetic engineering (PCR, cloning, knock-out mutants, gene expression), protein purification and enzymatic/biochemical assays and microbiology techniques (antimicrobial tests, killing assays and propagation and handling bacteriophages)
