We are a school situated in the centre of Barcelona and we are looking for an intern for the coming school year.

The intern would assist an English teacher in the day to day running of their classes.

It is essential that the candidate has at least a C1 level of English.

We can only accept candidates who possess the right to work in the EU.

The assistant must have an Erasmus grant.
Our school has requested the reception of an Erasmus assistant.

This position looks to improve the quality of English as a foreign language education in our School
by integrating English speakers with Erasmus grant  into the classroom to promote the students
understanding of both the language and culture of the foreign country.
Another objective of the position is to facilitate the learning of our own language
and culture among those who come to Spain as language assistants, and thus contribute
to their professional development and to the spread of the Spanish language. Under the supervision of the full-time teacher, the language assistants help students
 in our school to improve their oral proficiency in the English language.

Aufgaben:

Anforderungen:

• Eingeschriebener Student (m/w/d) an einer Hochschule oder Universität, idealerweise mit wirtschaftlichem oder verwandten Hintergrund
• Erfahrung im Kundenservice oder Vertrieb von Vorteil
• Gute Kenntnisse in der Arbeit mit CRM-Systemen, idealerweise Salesforce

Teaching Assistant Role

A teacher assistant supports the teacher with all the tasks related to the pupils. The assistant may sometimes be asked to help support pupils beyond the classroom (official school trips, events…..).

Balmes School is located in Palma de Mallorca (ten minutes on foot from the city centre). We have around 500 students from 3 to 12 years old. We also have a trilingual language (Spanish, Català and English) program implemented through cooperative work and other methodologies at our school. On the other hand if you are interested in Special Needs Education, we have two special units integrated in ordinary lessons.

What we expect from you is to work closely with our motivated staff in order to improve our student's English skills. We have already worked hand to hand with other foreign assistants from Texas, Scotland, Connecticut, Poland, Croatia, Latvia, Bulgary, Greece and Finland so far and the experience has been so intensive and positive for both teachers and children. The Language Learning Hub (LLH) is a busy resource centre within the School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics (MLAL) at the University of Limerick, Ireland. Much of the work will involve dealing with language students and MLAL staff. The LLH provides resources in many different media and in many different languages to learners, teachers and researchers in languages and cultural studies as well as language learning activities.

Duties

• Ensuring that the Language Learning Hub is kept tidy at all times
• Helping language learners to improve their language skills through video and audio material, books, and other material
• Handing out material to students and lecturers
• Ensuring all material is accounted for and signed out (updating the borrowing databases)
• Assisting lecturers and students in locating relevant/required material
• Assisting staff with equipment (camcorders, interactive white board, scanner, audio lab, data projector etc.) and with room booking
• Assisting students with computer queries and general language learning software
• Copying material
• Making photocopies and scans of documents, leaflets, bookmarks, signs, tickets, name cards, etc.
• Covering breaks and lunches
• (Interested students can also choose to act as Language facilitators for discussion groups or one-to-one sessions in their native language if French, German or Spanish)

The trainee will be in contact with her mentor every day who will be evaluating her progress both in English and in the skills necessary to perform the tasks at hand.

The duration of this internship can be flexible.
