Job Description:

The Assistant International Student Advisor & International Office Support will play a crucial role in enhancing the experience of international students at our university: the degree students, the Erasmus students & study abroad students. This position involves supporting program coordinators in facilitating cultural and orientation activities, managing logistics, and providing front office and back office support. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong sense of intercultural competence, and a dedication to fostering a welcoming environment for international students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Student Support and Orientation:

    • Assist Head of Department in organizing and leading cultural orientation activities for international students.

    • Welcome and provide reception services for students at the school.

  2. Front Office Activities:

Communications Intern

Communications internship at EFEE 

 

The European Federation of Education Employers is looking for a full-time intern to assist with the media and communications of the organisation. This involves a variety of tasks ranging from content creation and social media management to website design and maintenance.  

 

Tasks and responsibilities  

  • Manage social media: LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. Create posts, manage engagement, help design social media campaigns... 

  • Create content for social media and website: Take photographies and videos of EFEE events, produce visual graphics for dissemination, edit videos, etc. 

  • Manage website: Continuously update with new content and take care of general website maintenance. 

 

This is not a fixed list, and tasks may vary depending on the abilities and interests of the intern.  

Technical details 

  • The internship will take place in Brussels, Belgium, for a period of 6 months to 1 year starting no later than September 1st 2024. 

  • We have a 38-hour week (7,5 hours per day, 5 days per week). 

  • Work is hybrid alternating between home-office and at least three office days per week, in addition to the meetings and events that might take place each week. 

  • Project events often take place in different countries. The Communications intern is expected to be available to travel to these events. 

  • The organisation covers travel expenses in the function of work activities and other expenses incurred as part of work activities. 

  • The intern needs to be eligible for a funding grant such as Erasmus +, mobility grant from a Chamber of Commerce, Eurodyssey, aid from the Belgian Government such as Actiris International Erasmus Pro, etc. 

 

Qualifications required 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, international relations, political science...). 

  • Analytical skills to understand European projects and EU policy frameworks. 

  • Proficiency in English – orally and in writing (minimum C1 level – no need for official accreditation) 

  • Creativity, organisation skills, out-of-the-box thinking, proactivity. 

  • Content creation:  

  • Proficiency in multimedia creation: including photography, video, editing, graphic design, etc. 

  • Proficiency in social media management: all social media platforms.  

  • Computer skills:

Art Assistant

Teaching Assistant

SEK International School is a private international school educating children from 0 – 18 years of age. We have centres in Barcelona, Madrid (Santa Isabel, El Castillo, and Ciudalcampo), Pontevedra, Almería, Dublín, and France

As a teaching assistant:

You will support our teachers by helping with the planning and developing of activities and making/adapting resources according to the pupils’ abilities and learning styles to enable students to practise the target language and to follow the IB (International Baccalaureate) programme.

You will support the learning of the English language in class, on the playground and doing sports activities. You are an important resource for pupils to practice language skills in authentic context and your role is included in the teachers’ weekly planning.

You could be required to help our pupils with investigation in science classes, preparation of Cambridge ESOL exams, Drama, Sports, and Library activities as well as extra-curricular activities.

 

70% of the tuition is given in English whilst the remainder is given in Spanish (and Catalan at SEK-Catalunya and French at SEK Les Alpes).

We follow the International Baccalaureate Programme from Infant School through to Primary and Secondary School. 

Internship is not paid; we do provide free accommodation (in-campus or off-site) and breakfast and lunch on schooldays.

School year runs from beginning of September to the 22nd of December, and from 7th of January to the 22nd of June. Participants who can stay for the full year will be prioritize. We will not accept participants for less than 3 months. Non-UE students, for visa reasons, can only stay for 90 days.

SEK Catalunya – In-campus accommodation in shared rooms, two same-gender students per room. Fifteen students on placement.

Trains to Barcelona take 45 minutes. Mid-morning snack and lunch provided on school days.

The school is situated in the mountains with great trails for running and hiking.

Spanish speakers preferred at this school.

Placements to assist Infants (3-6 years) Primary (6-12 years). There is no secondary education at this school.

SEK Atlántico – Off-site accommodation in a flat in Pontevedra rented specially for the four students on placement 15 minutes’ walk uphill or 5-minute free school bus ride to the school and just 10 minutes’ walk from nearest town and beach. Assistants have their own rooms. Mid-morning snack and lunch provided on school days.

Spanish, Galician and English are spoken.

Placements to assist in infant (3-6 years), primary (6-12 years) and secondary (12-18 years).

Specialist subject areas:  Early Years Education, Primary Education, Science, English as a Foreign Language.

Extra-Curricular activities that you may have the opportunity to support: French, drama, PE.

 

SEK Alborán – Women only. Off-site accommodation, own room in flat rented in the town of Almería specially for the four assistants. 50-minute bus ride on free school bus to school.

5 minutes’ walk from town centre and beach. Mid-morning snack and lunch provided on school days. Spanish and English are spoken.

Placements to assist in Primary (6-12 years,) Secondary, English, French and German (12-18 years).

SEK Ciudalcampo – Off-site accommodation in flats rented in a residential area specially for the eight students on placement. You would have your own room.

20-minute bus ride to the school on free school bus service. The accommodation is 45 minutes on public transport from central Madrid.

Mid-morning snack and lunch provided on school days. Spanish and English are spoken.

SEK Ciudalcampo ask that all students, including placement students, submit a copy of their vaccination record for the school doctor to validate. This step is a fundamental detail for our health and safety committee, who are committed to guarding the personal safety of all members of the school community. To carry out your placement at SEK Ciudalcampo you will be required to send your vaccination record so that the school doctor may check it over. If there is anything that needs to be discussed, the school doctor will contact you directly to speak about it.

SEK Les Alpes, France – two placements available at this small residential school in a very remote ski resort. On-campus accommodation in own room.

Full board provided seven days a week. This school does not cater for special diets as there are no kitchen facilities. French, Spanish and English are spoken.

There are very few facilities close by. This placement is for someone who speaks French and is keen on mountain sports.

This is a residential school and you would assist with sports activities at weekends as well as after-school supervision.

SEK Dublin

SEK Dublin is an international day and boarding school, located between the coastal towns of Bray and Greystones, 35 minutes from Dublin. The school caters students from 11 to 18 years old and offers the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme.

Accommodation is not included, but we can support our assistants with the process of finding a host family to stay with during their experience here.

Mid-morning snack, lunch and transportation provided on school days, as well as on Saturday trips.

Placements to assist in Secondary (12-18 years), as well as the mid-term breaks (under previous request based on the different needs) and with Saturday trips which take place three times a month.
